Our Six Dimensions of Health
Physical Wellness
Physical wellness involves acting on the need for appropriate physical activity, healthy foods, and sleep, along with preventing illness and injury or managing chronic health conditions.
Nutritional Wellness
Understanding the relationship between what we eat/drink and our health, and incorporating that understanding into our dietary behaviors, leads to nutritional wellness.
Financial Wellness
Financial wellness is defined as secure feelings concerning current and future financial situations.
Social Wellness
Social wellness is defined as developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system. Social wellness refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others. Our relationships can offer support during difficult times. This involves building healthy, nurturing and supportive relationships as well as fostering a genuine connection with those around you. It also includes balancing the dynamics of different types of relationships, including familial, collegial, romantic, and friendship.
Emotional Wellness
Emotional wellness includes positive coping strategies, self-care, relaxation, stress reduction and the development of inner strength. It is important to be attentive to both positive and negative feelings and be able to understand how to handle these emotions. Emotional wellness also includes the ability to learn and grow from experiences. Emotional well-being encourages autonomy and proper decision making skills. It is an important part of overall wellness.
Behavioral Wellness
Behavioral health describes the connection between behaviors and the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit. Behavioral wellness translates into your conscious actions reflecting your values and beliefs, searching for insights into patterns of behavior, and leveraging those insights to propel self-growth in all dimensions of wellness. It is the outward manifestation of wellness in action.
